Beaufort Minors v Kilcummin

Beaufort Minors sponsored by Melvin of Carsons Daybreak got their Eastern Region League campaign off to a good start when they beat Kilcummin in Beaufort on Thursday evening.  Final score Beaufort 3-14 Kilcummin 3-8.

The game was played at 13-a-side as both teams were short players but this lead to a very open game.   The teams were evenly matched in the first half which resulted in the score being level at half-time 1-5 each.  The goals cames from Matt Keane for Kilcummin and Niall O’Connor for the home side.  Beaufort’s keeper Cian O’Sullivan made a great save from Matt Keane to keep the scores level in the 1st half.  

The 2nd half was a high scoring affair but the home team dominated proceedings around the middle of the field with  Sean Kelliher and Brendan Cronin in particular driving forward. Beauforts 2nd goal 5 minutes into the half came from a mazey run by Brendan Cronin-his effort for a point came off the upright and Paudie Coffey was on hand to finish to the net.  2 points from Danny Healy and a free from Niall O’Connor had Beaufort pushing ahead 2-8 to 1-5.  Kilcummin then dominated the game for a spell of 12 minutes but found it hard to break down the solid Beaufort defence. but could only get through for a pointed free from Matt Keane and a point from centre back Jake Moynihan to cut the gap. Beaufort hit back with a fine point from the hard working Danny Healy. Niall O’Connor and Eoghan Kenneally exchanged points before Matt Keane, Kilcummins most dangerours foward scored a fine goal on 21 minutes.  This seemed to get the home team moving again and they responded with a great move that involved Aaron Foley and Danny Healy who set Brendan Cronin up for a fine goal.  Wing back Declan Floyd, Brendan Cronin, Danny Healy did great work to put Aaron Foley through for a point.  Aaron Foley they turned provider for centre-back Mike Breen to score a point.  Danny Healy brought a fine save from Kilcummin’s keeper Conor Teahan before a Paudie Coffey point and a free from Niall O’Connor pushed Beaufort further ahead. Matt Keane had the final score for Kilcummin with another fine goal which gave Beaufort’s sub goalie Darragh Curran no chance.   Matt Keane ended up with a personal tally of 3-4.  Beaufort had the final say when wing back Declan Floyd soloed through for a point to leave the final score Beaufort 3-14 to Kilcummin 3-8. Overall Beauforts defence stood up well with Mike Breen the pick of the defence, as mentioned Beaufort dominated mid-field and upfront Danny Healy and Aaron Foley caused problems for Kilcummin while subs Paudie Coffey and Luke Sweeney played well.  Kilcummin were best served by Brian Moynihan and Jake Moynihan in defence, Paudie O’Connor tried hard in the middle of the field while top scorer Matt Keane and Eoin Kenneally were always dangerous on the ball.

Beaufort U12 girls v Spa

Beaufort U12s v Castleisland Desmonds

Beaufort U12s sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating had a good win again in the County League by defeating Castleisland Desmonds on Sunday pm in Beaufort.  They began well with a goal from the impressive Jack O’Connor and they had 2 groals from Niall Carey and one from mid-fielder Sean O’Brien in the 1st half to set them on their way to the win.  The 2nd half saw them score some great points, too numerous to mention and finished with a goal from Max Doyle to leave final score 5-27 to 1-6.  Team:  Patrick Galvin, Sean Kissane, Max doyle, Mark Sheahan, Ethan Coffey, Sean O’Brien, Jack O’Connor, Niall Carey, Kieran Dennehy, Jack O’brien, Jack O’Leary.  The U-11s, short some players tried hard in their game and had goals from Simon Coffey, Ciaran Cronin and Sam Roberts but were beaten on a score-line of 3-01 to 5-15.  Team:  Brendan O’Donoghue, Simon Coffey, Caolan Ireland, Sean O’Sullivan, Kealan O’Connor, Jack O’Sullivan, Jimmy O’connor, Sam Roberts, Ciaran Cronin.

Best of luck to our outstanding U12 player Jack O’Connor who will line out with Kerry Primary game team in Ennis on Sunday next.  This is a great honour for a fine young man who is one of Beaufort’s most impressive player this year.  Well done Jack and enjoy the day.

Beaufort Juniors (B) v Renard

Beaufort Juniors (B) had a fine win over Renard in lovely conditions on Sunday in Beaufort.  They won on a score-line of 4-11 to 2-13.  They were down a point at half-time but the 2nd half saw sub Niall O’Shea score 2 quick goals, also goals from Edward O’sullivan and a last minute one from Jason Foley  gave them a good win.  They are now in contention for a semi-fnal depending on other results.  Team:  conor Joy, Gary Tangney, Conor Breen, Liam O’Sullivan, Mike Kelliher, Jeremiah O’Sullivan, Gary Coffey, Padraig Hallissey, Jason Foley, Edwin Kelliher, Kevin O’Brien, Edward O’Sullivan, Cormac O’Shea, Dan Doonan, Trevor Coffey.  Sub:  Niall O’Shea

Beaufort Seniors v Fossa

Beaufort Seniors sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating hosted Fossa in the County League on Saturday evening.  This was a very entertaining, high scoring game and was either sides game up to the last few minutes.  Fossa began well and had a fisted point from Lorcan Daly in the first minute.  Wing back Derry O’Sullivan was put through for another point by Fintan Coffey who fielded well for Fossa at mid-field.  Kevin O’Brien was fouled but Ronan Murphy was wide with the free.  Beaufort were level inside 5 minutes with two fine points by full-forward Francis Courtney. The same player kicked another point after he was put through by centre-back Patch O’Sullivan.  On 7 minutes Beaufort went 2 ahead when Ronan Murphy scored a 45 after Danny Healy had his shot blocked down.  Fossa then hit for 1-1 when Mark Dennehy joined the attack and scored a fine goal, Lorcan Daly followed up with a point. Beaufort’s reply was instant with a fine point from Kevin O’Brien who was playing his first senior game this season. On 13 minutes Francis Courtney had another fine point when he was put through by Padraig O’Sullivan. Padraig O’Sullivan finished a move with a point after a great rob by Fergal Hallisey found Danny Healy who put O’Sullivan through.  Great defending by Beaufort led to Francis Courtney scoring a point which put Beaufort in front 0-7 to 1-3.  Both sides exchanged wides before Francis Courtney again had another point on 21 minutes when Ronan Murphy put him through with a quickly taken free. Beaufort finished the half well and a great free flowing move by Beaufort ended with a wide. Beaufort’s players were defending well and forced Fossa into pressurised shots. Beaufort had 2 more scores before half time-Fergal Hallissey put Francis Courtney through, he was fouled but got up and scored the free.  Patch O’Sullivan defended well in this final 10 minutes-he put Francis Courtney through who again was fouled and Ronan Murphy scored the free.  Half-time score Beaufort 0-10 to Fossa 1-3. Fossa began the 2nd half well and a high ball to the square got a flick from Lorcan Daly but Mike Moriarty was alert and cleared.  Francis Courtney continued his good form from the first half and after good work by Fergal Hallissey he scored a point.  Fintan Coffey fielded well at mid-field and soloed through to score a fine point.  Ronan Murphy was fouled but his long range effort was wide.  Fossa had 3 points in succession, they had a free on 13m line which Tadhg O’Shea scored on 6 minutes. This was followed up by another free from Lorcan Daly and again the impressive Fintan Coffey had a point from mid-field.  Soon afterwards he soloed through and had a shot at goal just go wide.  On 11 minutes Tadhg O’Shea had a free to level matters 0-11 to 1-8. Kevin O’Brien had 2 frees for Beaufort as Gerard Hartnett and Michael John O’Connor joined the attack and put Jeremiah through before he was fouled and he was fouled himself after good work by Patch O’Sullivan.  Paudie Clifford cut Beaufort’s lead with a point from play. On 16 minutes Beaufort had a chance to extend their lead but Francis Courtney was wide with a free after he was fouled and Jeremiah O’Sullivan had a wide from play. Mickey Cronin fielded on the Fossa kick-out and he put Lorcan Daly through for another point from play as he created problems for Beaufort all evening. Padraig Hartnett had a great block on a goal bound shot and Fossa’s Tadhg O’Shea was wide with his attempt on 21 minutes. Fossa introduced sub Mick O’Neill into the game at this stage for Brian Walsh. A quick free when Danny Healy was fouled saw Padraig O’Sullivan wide with his effort and this was followed by another miss by Beaufort from Edwin Kelliher. Beaufort took the lead again when Shane O’Sullivan fielded a kick-out and was fouled, dissent by Fossa led to the free been brought forward and Kevin O’Brien scored. Great work by Danny Healy led to Fossa’s defender getting caught in possession and Kevin O’Brien did the needful and scored the free.  Paudie Clifford had his 2nd point of the game on 26 minutes.  Beaufort introduced Conor Breen for Jeremiah O’Sullivan and he immediately won a short kick-out for Beaufort.  Beaufort felt hard done by when Sean Fogarty was upended on attack, he was dispossessed, Fossa attacked and centre-back Kevin O’Sullivan had a point from play to level matters again.  A great run by Fergal Hallissey from mid-field fed Conor Breen who in turn found Edwin Kelleher, he was fouled and Francis Courtney scored the free.  Patch O’Sullivan again joined the attack from centre-back and he put Francis Courtney through for a point from play.  Francis had the final score when Sean Fogarty won the ball on his wing and put him through.  This was a very free-flowing game and was well marshalled by Paul O’Sullivan from Dromid.  Fossa were best served by Fintan Coffey who had a fine battle with Ronan Murphy at mid-field, Mickey Cronin in the 2nd half when Fossa used him for their kick-out, Lorcan Daly had a fine game throughout and Paudie Clifford in the 2nd half.  Beaufort were best served by Patch O’Sullivan, Ronan Murphy and Fergal Hallissey had their moments at mid-field, Padraig O’Sullivan and Danny Healy worked hard, while Francis Courtney gave a Man of the Match display at full-forward.  Beaufort were happy to see Kevin O’Brien back in the club jersey again.
