Feile Peil na nOg ‘B’ semi-final St. Pats Blennerville v Beaufort

Beaufort U14 footballers sponsored by Sean Coffey of Kate Kearneys Cottage saw their great run in this year’s Feile competition come to an end on last Saturday in Blennerville when they fell to the home side at the semi final stage after extra time.

All of Beaufort’s scores, two pointed frees from Jack O’Leary and a great goal by Jack O’Connor, came in the first half of the game and gave Beaufort a four point lead coming up to half time. Just before the interval though St. Pats were awarded a penalty which they duly converted to leave the half time score, St. Pats 1-1 Beaufort 1-2.

St Pats dominated the second half but a combination of wasteful forwards coupled with some tremendous Beaufort defending, where Mark Neary, Jack Coffey and Keith Suter were outstanding ensured that scores were hard to come by. There had been no score at all in the second half as the game dragged into injury time but in that added time St. Pats found an equaliser to leave the full time score 1-2 each.

The home side took over the game in extra time as the overworked Beaufort defence finally relented conceding four goals.
