Beaufort U12 girls v Dr. Crokes

Beaufort U12 girls sponsored by Anthony Foley Decorating had their 2nd win in the County League on Tuesday evening when they played Dr. Crokes in Lewis Road, Killarney.
Crokes had the first point but it was cancelled out by a point from play from Holly Clifford after great work in defence by Katie Joy and Leanne Hayes. Crokes had a free to go ahead but again Beaufort’s Adele O’Brien was fouled and she scored the resultant free. Captain Leanne Hayes was playing very well at mid-field and set Adele O’Brien up for a goal. Ciara Cronin and Emma Kissane worked hard to keep a ball in on the side-line and set Holly Clifford up for a goal. Beaufort finished the half with a point from wing-forward Ciara Cronin again Leanne Hayes giving the telling pass. Hannah O’Connor, Lucy Breen were playing very well in defence as did Emily Kissane in goals who brought off a few great saves.

The 2nd half saw Dr. Crokes scoring a quick goal but 2 points, one a free from Holly Clifford settled Beaufort again. Dr. Crokes got a few points to cut the gap but strong running by players such as Leanne Hayes, Maeve Coleman-Horgan and Ciara Casey in particular kept the pressure on the home side and were unlucky not to score more but a fine individual goal by Adele O’Brien stretched Beaufort’s lead and left the full-time score Dr. Crokes 1-7 Beaufort 3-5.

Beaufort U12s v Renard

U12s boys sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating had mixed fortunes on Sunday evening with the Amber team losing to Renard and the Blue team winning. Beaufort (Amber) 5 – 12 Renard 5-17 and Beaufort (Blue) 5-23 Renard 5-6.
Renard started out very strong and quickly put goals on the score sheet which rattled the Beaufort (Amber) team. It took the whole of the first half for the Beaufort team to settle. At half time the score was Beaufort (Amber) 7 points to Renard 5 – 8. Beaufort had a lot to do in the second half. Putting Timmy Casey in defense turned the game around and prevented Renard any goal-scoring opportunity in the second half. It was Beaufort who did all the goal-scoring in the second half and put 5 goals on the score sheet in answer to Renard’s 5 goals scored in 1st half. Simon Coffey had a tremendous game and played to the max in both halves. Patrick Galvin played in goals in the second half and made some great saves which prevented Renard adding more goals to their already big collection. Mikey Moriarty also collected and delivered some lovely ball and contributed a goal & 2 points. Sam Roberts also contributed to the game with some great tackles and also added a nice point to the scoreline. Darragh Crehan scored a great goal in the second half which was badly needed at that stage of the game as Beaufort were gathering momentum. But unfortunately, they ran out of time and were only defeated by 5 points in the end after closing a huge gap of 16 points at half time. Beaufort (Amber) Team: Kieran Johnston, Oran Smith, Darragh Crehan (1-0), Brendan O’Donoghue (0-1),Sam Roberts (0-1), Kieran Dennehy (1-5),Patrick Galvin, Mikie Moriarty (1-2),Simon Coffey (2-2), Adam Neary (0-1), Donnacha Crowley & Timmy Casey.

The Beaufort (Blue) team led all the way from beginning to end of the game. They were very strong against the Renard team especially in the first half. Score at half time was Beaufort (Blue) team 5 – 8, Renard 1 – 1. Renard came back stronger in second half and closed the gap a little, but they were still no match for the Beaufort (Blue) team who won decisively in the end. Beaufort (Blue) Team: Caolan Ireland, Robert Sweeney, Luke O’Connor, Joshua Coffey, Dylan Ferris, Keelan O’Connor, Sean O’Sullivan, Daniel Murphy, Aidan Devine & Donncha Coffey.

Beaufort v Castleisland Desmonds in Division 3B County League Final

Beaufort Minors sponsored by Harpoon Direct played Castleisland Desmonds in the 3B County League Final in Farranfore on Friday evening last.
Desmonds had the first point before Mike Breen had a free on 7 minutes. Desmonds had a free on 9 minutes to go ahead. Aaron Foley levelled matters shortly afterwards after Cormac O’Connor was fouled coming out of defence. Desmonds had a free before Ryan Sweeney was unlucky to see his shot come off the cross-bar on 15 minutes. Darragh Curran brought off a great save and Cormac O’Connor was on hand to clear but Beaufort had a few wides which could have seen them ahead. Desmonds had a point from play. Mike Breen had a fine point from play on 27 minutes which involved a good move with Conor Cronin and Ciaran Kennedy. Desmonds had a free which saw them lead at half-time 0-5 to Beaufort 0-3.
Mike Breen had a point from a free to cut the lead to 2 points after Joseph Glinwood was fouled. On 6 minutes Mike Breen had a good point after a break from defence by Conor Cronin linked up with Ryan Sweeney who set Mike Breen up for the point to level matters.
Beaufort received a blow when influential mid-fielder had to be replaced due to injury by Mike Breen. Desmonds went ahead on 10 minutes with a point from play. Mike Breen again levelled matters again on 13 minutes. Desmonds then took over and had points on 16, 17, 22, 25 and 28 minutes before Beaufort had the final score from wing-back Declan Floyd.
Beaufort unfortunately were over-reliant on our County Minor star Mike Breen for scores. Ian McGillicuddy was outstanding also in the backs.

Beaufort U14 v Dingle in Division 3 County League Final

Beaufort U14s sponsored by Sean Coffey of Kate Kearneys Cottage travelled to Annascaul on Thursday evening to play Dingle in the Division 3 County League Final.
Beaufort had put in great performances to reach this Final and had gone through the Round games unbeaten.

Beaufort played with the wind and lead at half-time 1-11 to 1-8 by playing some lovely possession football from the start with Darragh Dennehy to the fore at full-forward scoring 5 points from play and Jack O’Connor unerring with his frees, one of which ended up in the net when it dropped short. Oising Cronin and Sean O’Brien also contributed points. Our backs were doing well at this stage with the full-back line of Tim Coffey, Mark Neary and Jack Coffey in particular clearing their lines while the half-back line of Shane O’Sullivan-Rouse, Keith Suter and Ethan Coffey also dominating theirs. Jack Hallissey and Sean O’Brien were winning their fair share of kick-outs while our wing and corner players Mark Sheahan, Niall Carey, Oisin Croning and Jack O’Leary were linking up well with Darragh Dennehy and Jack O’Connor.

Dingle took over completely in the 2nd half as their physicality began to tell and had 3-7 scored without reply as they ran Beaufort all over as unfortunately they lost their positional sense. Beaufort tried hard to keep with them none more than Keith Suter at centre-back. Mark Doona made a great save in the 2nd half which prevented another goal being scored. Beaufort had 2 points from frees from Jack O’Connor and finished with a goal that Patrick Crehan fisted to the net. Beaufort brought on their subs and Max Doyle and Sean Kissane did well when introduced and Patrick Crehan scored a goal. Final score: Beaufort 2-13 Dingle 4-18.

Team: Mark Doona, Tim Coffey, Mark Neary, Jack Coffey, Shane O’Sullivan-Rouse, Keith Suter, Ethan Coffey, Jack Hallissey, Sean O’Brien, Mark Sheahan, Jack O’Connor, Niall Carey, Oisin Cronin, Darragh Dennehy, Jack O’Leary. Beaufort U12s v Gneeveguilla in County League

U12 Win for Beaufort: Beaufort 3 – 10 (19) Vs Gneeveguilla 3 – 6 (15)

Beaufort U12s sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating started out very strong and went ahead by 5 points very early on. They looked very dominant in the first half and lead by 5 points at half time. The scores coming from Kieran Dennehy 1-2, 2 points from Donnacha Crowley and a point each from Timmy Casey and Kieran Cronin. It was definitely a game of 2 halves and in the second half Gneeveguilla came back strong and took hold of the game. With about 10 mins to go, Beaufort were only 2 points ahead so it was anyone’s game. Some excellent goal keeping by Kieran Johnson kept Beaufort in it. Donnacha Crowley added another point as did Simon Coffey and Kieran Dennehy added important points to the scoreboard. Some good mid-field catches by Kieran Dennehy & 2 great goals by Caolan Ireland wrapped up the game and Beaufort won by 4 points. Final Score, Beaufort 3 – 10 (19), Gneeveguilla 3 – 6 (15).
