Beaufort U12s v Milltown/Castlemaine in County League

Beaufort U12s sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating played Milltown/Castlemaine on Sunday evening. The report is as follows:

U12 Beaufort 3 – 14 Vs Milltown/Castlemaine 5 – 16

Beaufort & Milltown/Castlemaine had a great battle last Sunday with Beaufort leading by a few points in the early part of the game. However, Milltown/Castlemaine came back strong and with some great team work finished level with Beaufort at half-time. Half-time scores Beaufort 3 – 8 to Milltown/Castlemaine 4 – 5. So an exciting second half was anticipated and delivered with Milltown/Castlemaine pulling ahead towards the end and getting their well-deserved victory. Beaufort played well throughout the game with goal-keeper Kieran Johnson making 2 lovely saves and getting great help in the backs from Timmy Casey. Goals coming from Simon Coffey, Brendie O’Donoghue & Kieran Dennehy. Jack O’Sullivan had a great game and popped two badly-needed points over the bar in the second half.

Oran Smith, Kieran Johnson (Goal Keeper), Brendie O’Donoghue (1-3), Sam Roberts, Kieran Dennehy (1-3), Simon Coffey (1-3), Donnacha Crowley (0-2), Timmy Casey, Jack O’Brien, Jack O’Sullivan (0-2), Joshua Coffey & Stefan Caulfield-Dreier (0-1).

Beaufort U14s v Keel/Listry in East Region League

Beaufort U14s sponsored by Sean Coffey of Kate Kearney’s Cottage made the short journey to Listry to play Keel/Listry. Report as follows:

Keel/Listry 5-20 Beaufort 2-17

After two great victories in the first two rounds of the East Kerry League Division 2A Beaufort U14 footballers finally came unstuck against a strong Keel/Listry combination in their final round game played in Listry on last Monday evening. Beaufort’s cause was not helped by the absence through injury of centre half back, Keith Suter, and also the absence of last week’s star goalkeeper Ethan Coffey.

The foundation for Keel/Listry’s victory was laid by a storming first half performance in which they hit Beaufort with four goals to retire at half time with a thirteen point advantage on the scoreline of 4-9 to 0-8. Beaufort’s situation looked hopeless but they turned in a whole-hearted second half display outscoring the home side by a point. Goals from Keith Floyd and Oisin Cronin really got Beaufort back on track but they were then unfortunate to conceed a ‘soft’ fifth goal and as hard as they tried they had left themselves with just too much to do.

Beaufort now qualify for the Division 3 final.

Team: Niall O’ Brien, Sean Kissane, Mark Neary, Jack Coffey, Timmy Coffey, Sean O’ Brien, Shane O’ Sullivan-Rouse, Jack Hallissey, Jack O’ Connor (0-4), Niall Carey (0-1), Dara Dennehy (0-4), Mark Sheahan, Jack O’ Leary (0-4), Keith Floyd (1-1), Oisin Cronin (1-3).

Subs used: Oisin O’ Connor and Dara Smith.
