U12 Beaufort (Amber) 5 – 9 Vs Milltown/Castlemaine 5 – 12

U12 Beaufort (Blue) 4 – 3 Vs Milltown/Castlemaine 4 – 16

Beaufort (Amber) team played an excellent first half with great passing and great defending. Beaufort in the lead by a single point at half-time. Beaufort 1 – 3 to Milltown/Castlemaine 1 – 2. Darragh Crehan played in goals on the day and kept Beaufort in it with 3 great saves. It was still anyone’s game in the second half and both teams settled into it and racked up a high-scoring second half. Simon Coffey was on fire in the second half and added another 3 goals to the one he scored in the first half. Brendie O’Donoghue & Mikey Moriarty also added some well-taken points to the scoreline. Joshua Coffey played very well and robbed some great ball from the opposition and with great speed delivered it into the forwards. Timmy Casey was greatly missed in defense (due to getting his appendix out – get well soon Timmy!!). Time ran out for Beaufort and unfortunately lost by 3 points in the end. Final score Beaufort (Amber) 5 – 9 to Milltown/Castlemaine 5 – 12.

The Beaufort (Blue) team on the other side of the pitch had a very lively game against Milltown/Castlemaine. Half-time score was Beaufort (Blue) 1 – 1 to Milltown/Castlemaine 1 – 8. This game also saw both teams settle in the second half and produce a high-scoring second half with both sides scoring 3 more goals each. Full-time score Beaufort 4 – 3 to Milltown/Castlemaine 4 – 16.

Beaufort Seniors v Keel in Division 3 County League

Beaufort Seniors sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating remain unbeaten after travelling to Keel on Sunday for their Division 3 County League game and came away with a draw.

Beaufort were first to attack with Danny Healy’s shot blocked which went out for a 45 but Fergal Hallissey was wide with resultant kick.
Keel had a point.
Beaufort had a pointed free from Kevin O’Brien after Niall O’Connor was fouled. Keel had point on 7 minutes.
Keel had third point after 2 quick frees in succcession given away by Beaufort.
Beaufort found it hard to make their passes stick in the forwards.
Keel had another point from play to go three clear.
Beaufort had goal chance but Fergal Hallissey shot came off butt of upright, Beaufort retained possession and Francis Courtney had a point from rebound.
Keel scored a free.
Good work by Patch O’Sullivan led to a good pass from Kevin O’Brien to Darragh Coffey for a point.
Goal chance went a begging for Beaufort after a good ball from Padraig Hartnett to Kevin O’Brien.
Keel had a point from play.
Beaufort wide with free from Francis Courtney.
Good solo run by Kevin O’Brien had shot out for 45 which Fergal Hallissey scored.
Keel had 2 points from play.
A pick off the ground was punished by a Kevin O’Brien free.

Keel began the 2nd half with a quick point.
Beaufort were lucky when 2 Keel shots came off upright and cross bar.
Danny Healy was fouled but free went wide.
An intercept by Fergal Hallissey led to Beauforts goal-he found Padraig O’Sullivan who laid off to Goal scorer Darragh Coffey 0-9 to 1-6.
Beaufort were having plenty of possession but didn’t lead to scores.
Brendan Cronin was unlucky to see his attempt fielded at the cross bar.
Micheal O’Sullivan replaced Niall O’Connor.
Keel had a point to go ahead.
Ronan Murphy fielded kick out, Shane O’Sullivan was fouled and Kevin O’Brien was unerring with the free.
Beaufort won’t be happy with the possession they gave away from play, line balls and frees.
A side line ball given away by Beaufort almost led to a point but a good block by Padraig Hartnett led to a 45 which was not scored.
Keel had a point to go one ahead again.
Kevin O’Brien had another free to level matters.
Beaufort defended well to take a well deserved point.

Beaufort U16s v Legion in Division 1 County League

Beaufort U16s sponsored by Killarney Credit Union travelled to Legion this week to face Legion in Division 1 of County League.

This game went down to the wire with two very even teams. At half-time the scores were level Beaufort 2-4 Legion 1-7.
Beaufort had their first score from Jason Coffey-a goal while they had points from Paudie Coffey, Padraig Cronin, a free from Ciaran Kennedy, Jason Coffey and Jonathan Kissane had a goal in the first half.

The 2nd half was also very close with Beaufort scores coming from 3 frees from Ciaran Kennedy and point from Jason Coffey. The decisive score came from a penalty that was awarded for a foul on Ian McGillicuddy who made a very strong run from the backs and was eventually fouled in the penalty area. Ciaran Kennedy faced up to the spot kick and dispatched it well to leave the final score Legion 1-13 Beaufort 3-8.

Beaufort U12s v Cromane in Mid Kerry Go Games

U12 Beaufort 5 – 10 Vs Cromane 5 – 15

Beaufort U12s sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating & Cromane had an impressive battle last Tuesday evening in Cromane, Beaufort taking an early lead with 2 great goals by Simon Coffey. However, Cromane were not easily quietened and slowly gathered momentum and came back strong to draw level with Beaufort at half time. Half-time scores Beaufort 5 – 2 to Cromane 3 – 8.

Beaufort & Cromane were level enough all through the second half, however, with little over 5 mins to go, Cromane scored 2 goals and that was it for Beaufort. So an exciting second half was anticipated and delivered by both sides. Sam Roberts battled hard to rob Cromane on a few occasions. Ciaran Cronin had a great game and scored 2 well-taken goals. Stefan Caulfied-Dreier, playing at the back, came to the rescue a few times and prevented Cromane from adding more goals to the scoreboard as did Luke O’Connor. Sean O’Sullivan & Daniel Murphy also battled hard, but despite their best efforts it was not Beaufort’s day.

Beaufort Seniors v Keel in O’Sullivan Cup semi-final

Beaufort Seniors sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating hosted Keel on Friday evening. Keel opened the scoring with a Gary Sayers point. Beaufort replied with a point from Padraig O’Sullivan after patient play. Keel opened up a lead that they never relinquished with 1-4 with points from Aaron Cahillane, Thomas Laddin, Dylan Prendergast , James Long and a goal from full-forward Aaron Murphy. Beaufort hit back with a goal of their own after good work by Padraig Hallissey won the ball back, and Padraig O’Sullivan sent Niall O’Connor through and he finished to the net. Padraig O’Sullivan had his 2nd point from play but this was soon cancelled out with a David Flaherty point. Ronan Murphy had a free before Keel had 3 unanswered points namely 2 points from Gary Sayers and one from Dylan Prendergast. Half-time score: Beaufort 1-3 Keel 1-9.
Gary Sayers kicked 3 points at the start of the 2nd half before Kevin O’Brien had a free after Darragh Coffey was fouled. Sub Mickie O’Connor extended the Keel lead and Gary Sayers added a 45. Beaufort were thrown a life line when they were awarded a free for a leg block. Ronan Murphy cooly dispatched the kick to the net and he followed up with a free after he was fouled and a point from play to narrow the gap 2-6 to 1-14 at this stage. Kevin O’Brien had a free after he was fouled and he saw his goal effort saved well by Luke Flynn to leave the final score Beaufort 2-7 Keel 1-14.

Beaufort Minors v Glenflesk in East Region League

Beaufort Minors sponsored by Harpoon Connect hosted Glenflesk in the East Region League on Thursday evening.
Beaufort played with the breeze in the 1st half and had two quick points from Joseph Glinwood and Aaron Foley.
Glenflesk had their 1st score – a goal when full-forward Ian Roche was quickest to react a rebound off a fine save by Sean Coffey in Beaufort’s goal.
Caran Kenneday kicked a free after Joseph Glinwood was fouled.
Glenflesk had 2 frees and a 2nd goal after sloppy work in the forwards.
Beaufort replied with a Jonathan Kissane goal.
Both teams had 2 more points before half-time with a point from play by Keith Moloney and a long range free from the impressive Sean Kelliher.
Half-time score Beaufort 1-5 Glenflesk 2-3.

The 2nd half began well for Beaufort with a well taken penalty by Sean Kelliher after Darragh Curran was fouled. Sean followed up with his 2nd goal after he finished a great solo run by Joseph Glinwood to the net.
Glenflesk had a point but this was cancelled out by a point from Ciaran Kennedy.
Jonathan Kissane had a point from play when Ciaran Kennedy took a short free.
Glenflesk added another point.
Beaufort stretched their lead to 6 points after another long range free from Sean Kelliher. Glenflesk had 2 points from play before Conor Cronin joined the attack and scored a point.
A goal chance went abegging by Beaufort to leave them hold a 4 point lead. They also missed a 45 before Glenflesk rifled the ball to the net to leave the minimum between the teams.
Beaufort lost the ball going forward which led to Glenflesk working in the equaliser.
Final score: Beaufort 3-9 Glenflesk 3-9.
Sean Keliher was Beaufort’s best player. Joseph Glinwood was also dangerous on the ball.
