U12 Boys County League Div 2A Beaufort Vs. Churchill

A much improved performance from last couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, the U12 team, while playing as well as their opponents, just lacked the confidence to take the chances that came their way in the first half in particular which would have put a difference complexion on the game.

The U11 match was in the melting pot right until the end when a late Churchill goal gave them the win.

Both teams can take positives from their matches and the results will eventually go in their favor if they continue to put in the same effort.

Beaufort U12 Team 2-08  Vs.  Churchill 5-20

Beaufort U11 Team 4-06  Vs.  Churchill 3-14

U14 Ladies County League Div 4 Southern Gaels Vs. Beaufort

Southern Gaels 1-08  Vs.  Beaufort 4-11

A youthful Southern Gaels team welcomed Beaufort to Renard on Sunday, 30th April with the Beaufort crowd escaping the hustle and bustle of the rally of the lakes for a few hours it was clearly the home team that was in the driving seat for the first few minutes kicking 1-03 inside the first three minutes.  As usual this Beaufort team are slow off the blocks, it took five minutes to find the first score, a free from Saoirse Doorian.  With our full back Katie Joy under pressure from the speed and agility of Aoife Dwyer Beaufort reacted by using a very effective sweeping approach with Holly Clifford filling that roll and controlled the back line to settle the game,  she kicked three points in the second half when she freely attacked the Southern team. Leanne Hayes kicked 2-1 from the sixth to the eighth minute with M C Horgan tapping over a point on the eighth. For the next few minutes Beaufort created chance after chance but frustratingly failed to convert them into scores until the fifteenth minute Leanne Hayes found the net and Emily Kissane put her effort over the bar on the eighteen minute. Southern Gaels kicked points in the fifteenth and twenty and missing a free leaving it 3-04 to 1-05 to the visitors at half time.
Beaufort’s first chance of the second half fell to Holly Clifford which she narrowly put wide, MC Horgan pointed on the fourth with the home team pointing a free on the fifth. Beaufort’s next chances came from 45’s on the sixth and seventh minute both taken short and kicked narrowly wide. Leanne Hayes kicked a point in the eighth minute even though closely marshaled Katie O Sullivan she proved a hand full for young Sullivan but she never gave up and looked comfortable on the ball anytime she dispossessed Hayes.  Holly Clifford pointed on the ninth and hit the post on the sixteenth with a free. The home team pointed again on the eleventh. M C Horgan pointed on the seventh and both keepers were call upon to made some excellent saves.  Orla O’Brien, the Kerry squad player having an outstanding game seemed to be in the right place all the time only allowing one goal passed her which she had no control over, as always her kick outs were excellent. Southern Gaels tapped over a free on the twenty first to close their scoring and Beaufort answered with a goal from Leanne Hayes and further points from M C Horgan and Holly Clifford to close out the game.
