County Senior League Round 6 Div 2 – Kilcummin Vs. Beaufort

Beaufort made the short trip to Kilcummin in glorious sunshine on Saturday, 17th June for their Round 6 game of the County League.  Beaufort got off to a great start putting three points on the board within the first five minutes from Padraig Doona, Liam Carey and Ciaran Kennedy.  The strong start however was answered in the form of a goal which first hit the post but then managed to find its way into the net from Kilcummin’s Oscar O’Connor.  Beaufort’s Liam Carey quickly pointed to put the away side ahead again but once again Kilcummin answered with a point of their own from Ian Devane.  Beaufort had a chance at a goal in the thirteenth minute when Carey passed to Doona in front of goals but this was saved by Kilcummin keeper Kieran Fleming, however the side were able to capitalise a few minutes later with a point from Ciaran Kennedy.  Darragh Coffey was introduced to the game mid way through the first half with Nathan Breen coming off.  Kilcummin seemed to have the upper hand over the next ten minutes with a goal fisted in by Richie O’Connor and two points from frees and one from play for Noel Duggan.  Turning point in the first half came from a powerful point taken by Padraig Doona after a skillful pass from Darragh Coffey and just over sixty seconds later Liam Carey seemed to walk the ball into the goal for Beaufort.  The first half wrapped up with a further point from Kilcummin’s Chris O’Leary and after a couple of near misses for the Beaufort men, Liam Carey once again found the back of the net.  Half time score:- Beaufort 2-06   Kilcummin  2-05

Both sides had a rocky first few minutes in the second half but the first score after the break went to Beaufort’s Padraig Doona after a missed goal chance from Carey.  Kilcummin.  The teams were level after ten minutes with a point from a free for Kilcummin’s Noel Duggan and one from play for Shane McSweeney.  Beaufort once again pushed ahead with another great goal from Liam Carey assisted by Danny Healy and over the next five minutes or so it was score for score for both sides with two points from frees for Kilcummin’s Richie O’Connor and two points from frees for Beaufort’s Niall O’Connor and Ciaran Kennedy.  Both teams defense preformed well when put under pressure towards the end of the second half and when put to the test twice by Kilcummin’s Richie O’Connor Beaufort keeper Mike Moriarty kept his cool in the heat and had two great saves.  Finishing out the game Kilcummin scored its final point from a free and Beaufort scored four more points three from play for Kevin Ferris, Niall O’Connor and Fergal Hallissey and one from a free for Niall also.  Full time score:- Beaufort 3-13   Kilcummin 2-10.

U14 Ladies County League Div 4 Dr. Crokes Vs. Beaufort

Dr. Crokes 4-06  Vs.  Beaufort 6-05

Beaufort traveled to Lewis Road to take on their good friends Dr. Crokes on 21st May.  Lewis Road was buzzing with County Championship football for the afternoon and the Beaufort girls had their eyes on their own championship with a win here insuring them a County league final place which they have all worked hard for. With nothing between these two teams over the last couple of years it’s about getting the pairings right and making the right changes to get the advantage over each other I always enjoy playing Crokes it’s like playing chess.  Beaufort as we know are always slow off the blocks but on the first minute Holly Clifford had neatly tipped over a point on the third minute, Emma Kissane goal bound effort was well saved and Meadh Kissane narrowly putting her chance wide on the ninth minute. Crokes were finding it hard to score themselves kicking scorable frees wide on the fourth and twelfth minutes and Kerry full forward Jade Potts kicking two wides on the sixth and seventh minute.  Beaufort adapted a great attacking game moving forward and supporting each other beautiful to watch resulting on a goal on the tenth minute for Meadbh C Horgan, on the fourteenth from Ciara Casey and points on the eighteenth from Emma Kissane from a tight angle a point from Ciara Casey on the 19th minute. Only for Crokes to spoil the party going on a goal spree in a ten minute spree hitting four goals in ten minutes leaving Beaufort trailing by 3 points at half time.
Crokes started well with Potts winning the throw in and running through kicking a super point and mirroring this point with another in the eighth minute. Beaufort’s first score of the half fell to Saoirse Doorian on the tenth minute delighted for her as playing against her old club is always hard and may have upset her usual form. Katie Joy was celebrating her birthday and was going to do this in style moving from full back in the first half to full forward in the second half she hit the net on the sixteenth, eighteenth and twenth minute as cool as a breeze happy birthday Katie, Beaufort finished a satisfactory evening with a goal from Saoirse Doorian who shook off the nerves to command the game in the second half. The intense attacking game worked well for Beaufort during the game they now have a County League final to look forward to. Well done girls.
