East Region U14 Boys Final – Beaufort Vs. Fossa

Beaufort played neighbours Fossa on Saturday, 22nd July in Fitzgerald Stadium, in the East Region U14 League Division 4 Final. What an exciting match it was! Both teams representing their parish with pride and a great game of football was produced for all the spectators. At half-time Beaufort were leading by 4 points. Half-time score, Beaufort 3 – 1, Fossa 1 – 4 .

 

Beaufort continued to put a steady stream of scores on the scoreboard for the second half, but they had to battle hard against Fossa for every score and nothing came easy. While it was teamwork that did it in the end for Beaufort, a special mention has to be given to the backs who prevented many goal-scoring opportunities by Fossa and who cleared the ball out of danger with great gusto. Well done to the team & their mentors. Final score: Beaufort 5 – 9, Fossa 3 – 8.

County Senior League Round 9 Div 2 – Beaufort Vs. Listowel Emmets

Beaufort Senior Men sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating played hosts to Listowel Emmets on Sunday, 23rd July in Round 9, Division 2 of the County Senior League.  Both teams were quick off the mark with two points from Listowel Emmets David Sheehy, one from a free and two points for Beaufort’s Fergal Hallissey, both from frees, within the first four minutes.  However a quick goal from Beaufort’s Jonathan Kissane edged the home side in front in the fifth minute.  The lead was sort lived with points each for Bryan Sweeney, Cathal Keane and two for Sam Tarrant, one from a free, following swiftly.  Beaufort were awarded a penalty after a foul on Jonathan Kissane, this was taken by Liam Carey and was on target once again putting Beaufort in the lead.  Listowel  Emmets answered with a point from Sam Tarrant and another from a free for David Keane but with a goal each for Ciaran Kennedy and Niall O’Connor and a point from O’Connor all going unanswered, Beaufort looked comfortable as the clock headed towards half time.  Darragh Leahy scored Listowel Emmets ninth point twenty-five minutes in but not to be out done Beaufort’s Ciaran Kennedy hammered in his second goal of the after noon after a great sprint down the centre of the field and just on half time Mike Breen rounded out the first half with another point for the home side.  Half time score:- Beaufort 5-04   Listowel Emmets 0-09

 

Scoring got under way in the second half as swiftly as it did in the first with points for Liam Carey for Beaufort and a point from a free for Listowel Emmets David Keane.  Over the next five minutes Beaufort further extended there lead with a point each for Fergal Hallissey, Jonathan Kissane and Ronan Murphy and a further goal this time for Ronan Ferris.  David Keane pointed from a free in the thirty-seventh minute and this was very swiftly followed by a goal for teammate David Sheehy.  Ronan Murphy added to Beaufort’s plethora of goals in the thirty-eight minute extending the home sides lead by 15 points.  David Keane added another point from  a free but this was answered by Beaufort’s Fergal Hallissey coming in with two points, one from a free.  Beaufort’s Padraig O’Sullivan was shown a yellow card and Listowel Emmets were awarded a penalty for the foul but this was well saved by goal keeper Mike Moriarty.  Beaufort’s final goal of the afternoon was scored by Niall O’Connor, Listowel Emmets Cormac Mulvihill answered with a point but a further free for Beaufort’s Fergal Hallissey ended the days play with a point for the home side.  Stand out players of the day were Darragh Coffey for Beaufort and Brendan Guiney of Listowel Emmets for their ground work and setting up scores.  Full time score:- Beaufort 8-11   Listowel Emmets 1-13

East Region U14 Boys – Beaufort Vs. Killarney Legion

Beaufort played Legion on Monday in Beaufort. From the start Legion took control of the game and proved too strong for our Beaufort lads. Beaufort had periods of control, but unfortunately Legion’s quick handling of ball ensured any Beaufort fight-back was quickly eradicated. Half-time score, Beaufort 0 – 3, Legion 1 – 10. Beaufort did better in 2nd half & scored 4 much needed goals. Final score: Beaufort 4 – 5, Legion 4 – 22.

Beaufort played Laune Rangers in Round 1 of the Mid Kerry Junior League on Tuesday, 11th July in Beaufort.  Final score 6-08 to 1-14 to Beaufort.

Under 12 Girls County League – Division 5B-B Final

Beaufort Under 12 Girls played Southern Gaels second team in the Trophy World sponsored 5B Co League final in Beaufort on Wednesday, 21st June.  It was a very tight game with nothing between the sides up to the last 10 minutes when Beaufort pulled away for a victory.  The final score was Beaufort 3.9.  Southern Gaels 2.6.  It was a great team effort by Beaufort with particularly outstanding performances from Aoibhinn Coffey, Ellie O’Leary, Gráinne Kennedy and Aisling Magann.  The winning trophy was presented to Beaufort captain, Emily Coleman after the game. Thanks to Allan, Mary Jo and Stephen for all their hard work with the team.

East Region U14 Boys – Beaufort Vs. Kilgargan/Tousist

Beaufort played Kilgarvan/Tousist last Monday in Beaufort. Kilgarvan/Tousist got off to a good start and looked in command of the game. However, Beaufort kept battling and took command of things and at half-time were leading. Beaufort 4 – 7, Kilgarvan/Tousist 1 – 9. All through the second half, both teams battled hard, but Beaufort continued to put scores on scoreboard all through the 2nd half through great passing & teamwork. Final score: Beaufort 7 – 15, Kilgarvan/Tousist 3 – 17.

County Senior League Round 7 Div 2 – Beaufort Vs. Killarney Legion

Beaufort Seniors sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating hosted Killarney Legion in Round 7 of the Division 2 County League on Saturday, 01st July in Beaufort.  Despite Beaufort winning breaking Legion had the upper hand through out the first half of the game with three points, two from frees for Jamie O’Sullivan in the opening twelve minutes.  Beaufort’s first score did not come until the sixteenth minute when mid fielder Ronan Murphy powered the ball over the crossbar after a quick pass from Darragh Coffey.  Coffey in turn got Beaufort’s second point of the evening a couple of minutes later.  Legion however were quick to retaliate with Jamie O’Sullivan scoring four points, one from a free, and a point Thomas Moriarty. Half time score:- Beaufort 0-02   Killarney Legion 0-08

 

The second half of the game opened with Beaufort once again winning the throw in but unlike the opening half Darragh Coffey went on to score the first point.  This was answered by Killarney Legion’s Conor Keane getting his first point of the evening.  Beaufort’s Fergal Hallissey went on to score two more points for the home side, one from a free and following a couple of wides and a short ball Legion’s Thomas Moriarty fisted the ball over the bar pushing Legion a bit further ahead.  The turning point for Beaufort came in the eleventh minute with Liam Carey scoring his first point of the day and then rapidly adding a second to his personal tally.  Beaufort had three more unanswered points, two from frees for Fergal Hallissey and one from Ciaran Kennedy from play to bring the sides level  for the first time at ten points each.  Legion pushed forward once again with a point from a free for Jamie O’Sullivan.  Over the final twelve minutes or so both sides struggled with possession and Legion had a series of wides but in the dying minutes of normal time Beaufort’s Kevin Ferris levelled the game once again with a quick point that was well executed.  Full time score:- Beaufort 0-11    Killarney Legion 0-11
