Beaufort 0-15  |  Laune Rangers 0-07

Beaufort Seniors sponsored by Maurice Foley of MF Decorating played hosts to near neighbours, Laune Rangers, in the Mid Kerry Senior Championship semi-final on Sunday, 15th October.  It was a day of great celebration for the club which started with the dedication of the clubhouse extension to past Club President, Michael Moriarty, and ended with the Senior team booking their place in the Mid Kerry Championship final.  Beaufort started the afternoon being the stronger side with six unanswered points from Mike Breen, Liam Carey and Nathan Breen.  Rangers got scoring underway in the eleventh minute with a free from Mike Frank Russell  made its way over the cross-bar after  missing an earlier attempt.  A Beaufort free was not far away however with Fergal Hallissey putting his name on the score card with his opening point but this was shortly followed by another free for Rangers Mike Frank Russell.  The sides went score for score for a period with Beaufort’s Darragh Coffey popping the ball over for a point, followed by one for Rangers Fiachra Clifford and then it was the turn of Beaufort’s Niall O’Connor who also sent the ball safely over the bar.  Ever cool under pressure, Mike Moriarty beautifully saved a Rangers goal attempt towards the end of the first half and play was rounded out with a further point from play for Liam Carey and one from a free for Rangers Mike Frank Russell.  Half time score:- Beaufort 0-10  |  Laune Rangers 0-04

Play resumed in the second half much the same as it was in first with Beaufort scoring the opener, this time from Darragh Coffey.  Both teams followed this up with points from frees for Mike Frank Russell and Fergal Hallissey and then one from play for James Reilly and another from play for Rangers John Tyther.  When it looked like Rangers were making a come back and both sides were evenly matched Beaufort once again started to pull away with points for Darragh Coffey and Ciaran Kennedy.  Laune Rangers answered with one point from a free for Mike Frank Russell but unfortunately after wides from Russell, Shane McSweeney and Fiachra Clifford Rangers never appeared to get their scoring in gear.  The final point of the afternoon did got to Peter Crowley of Laune Rangers who scored in the dying minutes of added time.  Full time score:- Beaufort 0-15  |  Laune Rangers 0-07
