Another great win for Beaufort Senior Men in the County League but unfortunately not enough to stay in Division One for 2019.

Beaufort 1-11 Killarney Legion 0-12

Beaufort deservedly won this last round game of the league by two points in Derreen, but the margin probably should have been greater were it not for a number of fine saves by Legion goalie Brian Kelly.

The game didn’t reach great heights but Beaufort won’t mind as they showed a determined approach throughout and despite facing a stiff breeze in the first half trailed by just two points at the break with Fergal Hallissey and Ronan Ferris both hitting a double.

They showed the same resolve in the second half and when they survived the only real threat to their goal when the Legion forwards fouled the ball they hit 1-1 from man of the match Liam Carey to open up a 4 point gap. The home side pulled it back to just a single point with time ticking but Fergal Hallissey made sure of the win with two late points to give his side the win. Ronan Murphy at midfield and Mike Breen at centre back were solid from start to finish but overall the team worked hard and took their chances when presented with them.
