A narrow defeat for Beaufort in the O’ Sullivan Cup, Sun 23/09/’18.

Beaufort hosted Glenbeigh/Glencar in the O’Sullivan Cup semi-final on Sunday last the 23rd of September. Game was played in lovely conditions with a slight breeze to the road goals.

Beaufort began well and defended in numbers. They registered the first score with a point from Fergal Hallissey after a great move from the backs.
Daniel Griffin replied with a point for Glenbeigh/Glencar. They took the lead on 11 mins when a strong run from corner-back Vincent Hoare led to their 2nd point.
Beaufort replied with a 45 from Fergal Hallissey which was the start of a great run of points from Beaufort. Padraig Doona, Fergal Hallissey, Padraig Hallissey, Kevin O’Brien and Padraig Hartnett all contributed great points from play. They were also guilty of poor shooting which should have seen them lead by more at half-time. Glenbeigh/Glencar also missed some scoring opportunities and the score at half-time ended Beaufort 0-7 to Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-2.

Sean Coffey replaced Kevin O’Brien at half-time. The 2nd half began well for the visitors with Tommy Cahill’s shot dipping into the net and he followed it with a point. Fergal Hallissey added a point from a free after he was pulled down going through. Jonathan Kissane added a point from the kick-out. Colin McGillicuddy fielded the kick-out and scored a point. A good move by
Beaufort led to Padraig Hallissey scoring his 2nd point. This was followed by a Padraig Doona goal after good play by Cormac Joy and Fergal Hallissey. Glenbeigh/Glencar cut the lead to 4 points with points from Tommy Cahill and Kieran Courtney. Beaufort introduced Kealan Cahill for Michael John O’Connor and Luke Sweeney for Padraig Hallissey. Glenbeigh/Glencar also had points from Tommy Cahill and Kieran Courtney and on 52 minutes a high ball into the square was fielded well by Colin McGillicuddy and he finished to the net resulting in them taking the lead. Fergal Hallissey levelled matters with a point from good possession. Sean Kelliher received a black card and this resulted in an
Adrian O’Connor free. Beaufort had a chance to level matters but Fergal Hallissey was just wide with a 45.
